The lovely Hollie & Daryl married at their local church and then made their way to the beautiful Carlton Towers

It was quite a cold day but that didn't stop Hollie & Daryl and that really shows in the wedding photographs! It was a pleasure to work with them and it was a great way to end the year!

Wedding Tradition, Why is the wedding cake tiered

I think this is going to be the last wedding tradition of 2020!! 

This time it's all about the cake and why is it tiered! 

It has always been tradition for cake to play a part in a wedding, but originally, guests would bring small cakes and place them in front of the couple. They would then kiss over the pile of cakes to guarantee future prosperity!

The tiered wedding cake originated at the wedding of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany in 1882.

The cutting of the cake is a focal point at any reception today, a tradition rooted in history when the first cut was made by the bride to ensure the marriage would be blessed by children.

Sheriff Hutton Castle Wedding Photography

This weekend I polished off my lenses and made my way to Sheriff Hutton Castle for the wedding of Natalie & Jez! It was a rainy wet day but that didn't stop the beautiful bride and groom enjoy their special day! Sheriff Hutton Castle is a very atmospheric wedding venue with lots of fairy lights dotted about which really adds to the Wintery time of year!

I visit wedding venues in and around York quite often and it was great to find a new one to photograph at!

Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield Wedding Photography

Are you getting married at Waterton Park Hotel? 

I have been visiting Waterton Park Hotel in Wakefield for over 10 years now for wedding photography and it is a beautiful wedding venue set on it's own island. The wedding photography opportunities are endless!

The wedding coordinators are fantastic at making sure your day runs without a hitch and really look after you. They have a swimming pool and spa on site too so you can be pampered too!

In the Winter, Waterton Park Hotel has some great night time photograph opportunities too, there has been a few times I have been there where the lake has been frozen it was so cold! Totally worth going out in the cold for!
